Mars Williams is one of 24 musicians visiting Milwaukee during the weekend of June 5th to 7th for the international festival of improvised music known as Okka Fest. A truly extraordinary saxophonist, Mars has played with an almost impossibly broad range of musicians, from Hal Russell to the Psychedelic Furs (to site only two sets of extremes). He’ll be performing twice at the festival, in a quartet with Johannes Bauer (trombone), Tim Daisy (drums), and Helen Gillet (cello) on Friday night; and in a trio with Helen and Jason Adasiewicz (vibraphone) on Saturday evening.
