Two arrangements made for the C.O.D.E project (instigated by Klaus Nuchtern, with Thomas Clayton, Max Nagl, and Wolfgang Reisinger); “The Sphinx” by Ornette Coleman, and “The Madrig Speaks, The Panther Walks,” by Eric Dolphy. These were recorded in Vienna (along with arrangements made by the other members of the group: “Free Jazz,” “Space Jungle,” “Dee Dee,” “Researching Has No Limits,” by Ornette Coleman; and “Miss Ann,” “G. W.,” “Something Sweet, Something Tender,” “Hat and Beard,” by Eric Dolphy) on March 28 and 29, to be released on a co-production between the cracked anegg and handsemmel record labels later this year.

Score for the “Lock 10” theater piece (written by Kathy Hendrickson, directed by Kristin Tanzer) composed in March, 2008; performed by John Herndon, Christof Kurzmann, and Ken Vandermark during the production staged at Joe’s Pub, New York, on April 6 and 7.

RELEASED: “Broken Music” (Atavistic), by Fire Room (Lasse Marhaug, Paal Nilssen-Love, Ken Vandermark); includes seven trio improvisations: “Broken Music 1,” “Slag,” “When Water Burns Air,” “Hand Lettered,” “Dashboard Fire,” “Line Of Lead,” and “Broken Music 2.”
