A day at the Art Institute of Chicago, focusing on two photo exhibits “William Eggleston: Democratic Camera, Photographs and Video, 1961-2008;” and “In The Vernacular.” Both shows were excellent. I’m
pretty familiar with Eggleston’s work, he’s one of my favorite photographers and his “Guide” is a landmark (and Szarkowski’s introduction is fantastic );  to see so much recent work for the first time, and that these images were so strong, was truly inspiring. Many interesting ideas in the 2nd exhibit, great historical cross section of photographers.
If you’re in Chicago I urge you to visit these shows!
