5/8:
The Vandermark 5 close out the 3 night series at the Velvet Lounge, best audience and band plays well; music stretching out, actually had to drop a piece from the 1st set because the music went farther than
expected- very nice. Odd to realize that the last time the group played was in August 2009, on the tour when we played the Newport Jazz Festival. To be in the new Velvet Lounge, to see people who have followed the band since the time we did the Tuesday nights at the Empty Bottle, made it a strangely nostalgic evening for me- something I can’t stand.

So, even as the music felt strong, I had an overwhelming desire to move on, get new material in the books, develop a new path for the band if possible.
