I’ve avoided talk of Fred Anderson’s passing, wanted to wait until the
news reached “official channels” before mentioning it here. Now that
the information has been given in the press, I’d like to state how much
he’ll be missed by the scene here in Chicago, and as a musician around
the world; and I’d like to acknowledge
his greatness as an artist and as a human being- there’s a gap in the
world now that won’t be replaced. I feel incredibly lucky to have known
him, to have played with him, and to have recorded with him. Fred’s
commitment to music and to the necessary work that goes into a life
long search is a model of integrity that I won’t forget. Some Anderson
sounds!
