Leave Kongsberg at 2:30am, get to Nickelsdorf at 10:30am, sleep an hour
and head to Mats Gustafsson’s wedding, an amazingly good time and a
veritable who’s who of the current Improvised Music scene (Barry Guy,
Paul Lovens, Paal Nilssen-Love, Ingebrigt Haker Flaten, Johan
Berthling, Per-Ake Holmlander, Joe McPhee,
Andy Moor, Terrie Hessels) all hanging out and having a beautiful
time. Hit the stage with the Ex around midnight, play 4 blistering
tunes; afterwards Paal Nilssen-Love and I got to sit in with Mesele
Asmamaw and a incredible drummer from Addis who were playing with
Chalachew Ashenafi (the greatest singer I’ve ever heard) as part of the
wedding party- INCREDIBLE. Chalachew in concert:
