It turned out I had more than an hour’s break between sets- the club did things “New York style:” 8pm show, clear the room, 10pm show. The duo with Augusti was frenetic and intense, akin to what we did at the Stone in New York during January. Augusti used more preparations on the piano than on the previous gig, but in general the music moved extremely fast- exhilarating, ongoing, oscillating fields of action. Things developed, however, and were specific, there wasn’t just a numbing wall of sound. The performance went so well we got 2 encores, closing with a quiet, pretty ballad. I finished the night extremely exhausted but happy- a great evening of music and an excellent end to the tour. Then I had a late dinner with Sergio and Olga from Arco y Flecha, who book my European work, nice company before I got some sleep and another plane in the morning- this time back to Belgium to meet up with The Ex & Brass Unbound for the tour which celebrates the release of our album, “Enormous Door.”
