Option Series’ May Calendar

Option In May: The Option series is proud to present five remarkable concerts and events during the month of May. All performances take place Monday nights at Experimental Sound Studio in Chicago at 7:30pm. Seating is limited so we encourage people to arrive when doors open at 7pm.

May 1st: The Few. Charlie Kirchen (bass), Steve Marquette (guitar), and Macie Stewart (violin/voice) perform a set of solos and a set of improvised trio music.

May 8th: Jeremiah Cymerman (clarinet). Solo and in discussion with Ken Vandermark.

May 15: Charmaine Lee (vocals) and Sam Pluta (electronics). Charmaine will perform a solo set, then duo with Sam.

May 22nd: Ken Vandermark (reeds) solo, followed by John Sparagana’s presentation of his artwork, and an interview/discussion led by John Corbett called, “System and Variation/Variation Systems.”

May 29th: Survival Unit III. Joe McPhee (reeds and brass), Fred Lonberg-Holm (cello), and Michael Zerang (drums) perform two sets of music reimagining their recording “Barrow Street Blues (Live): Remembering Ornette Coleman in the time of Trump.”
