2017 is going to an exciting year for the DKV Trio. I’ve been playing in this group with Hamid Drake and Kent Kessler for more than 20 years, and it remains a source of exhilaration and inspiration for me as much now as in the mid 1990s. Our work together this year starts next week with a short tour which begins in Buffalo, NY and ends at the Something Else! Festival in Hamilton, Ontario:

-June 14: Buffalo, NY, Hallways Contemporary Arts Center
-June 15: Toronto, ON, Burdock Music Hall (on a bill with Icepick and Invisible Out)
-June 16: St. Catharines, ON, Niagara Artists Centre (on a bill with Joe Lapinski)
-June 18: Hamilton, ON, Something Else! Festival (on a bill with Quartet Kaze & Steve Bates & Eschaton performing Steve’s Black Seas)

In addition, I’ll be playing a solo set earlier in the evening of June 16th, a duo set with Nate Wooley on June 17th, and Nate, Hamid, Kent, and I will be participating in a number of afternoon Ad Hoc improvising groups in the afternoons of the 17th and 18th, all at the Something Else! Festival in Hamilton. Full details here:

In the autumn, DKV will be touring in Europe with Joe McPhee as a special guest starting at a residency I’ll be doing in Krakow, Poland from November 7th to 11th, the tour continuing until the 17th of that month. Coinciding with the residency will be the release of a brand new album by the trio, issued by Marek Winiarski on Not Two Records. With some luck and planning DKV will hopefully perform in Chicago and Milwaukee in late December to round out what sounds like a very good year for the band.
