SUMMARY:Chicago/Texas Sound Ensemble: San Antonio\, Slab Cinema Arthouse
DESCRIPTION:In late May of 2025\, Chris Cogburn in partnership with No Idea Festival hosted Ken Vandermark at Monk’s Jazz Club in Austin for a weekend residency.  Cogburn and Vandermark assembled a group of Texas based musicians to play some of Vandermark’s original compositions.  What was meant to be a one off performance went so well\, it was unanimously decided amongst the quintet that they should continue to work together\, later choosing the name Chicago/Texas Sound Ensemble.  This group highlights the creative and musical rapport that has always been shared between Texas and the Midwest.  In summer 2026\, these musicians will be recording a full length album.
