CATALYTIC SOUND FESTIVAL- Chicago Edition: Ellington Skeletons (w/Ben Hall & Ken Vandermark)
December 7 @ 3:00 pm

The Catalytic Sound Festival: Chicago edition presents Ben Hall and Ken Vandermark performing as Ellington Skeletons for a free concert at the Corbett vs. Dempsey gallery. The ideas behind “Ellington Skeletons” do not connect to a Duke Ellington repertory concept. Instead, the extended percussion of 1920s Sonny Greer coupled with the singular use of clarinet(s) in Ellington’s composition, “The Mooche”, have taken a ride on Sun Ra’s Rocket Number 9 way past Venus through the prism of John Carter’s solo clarinet album, “A Suite of American Folk Tales Pieces”, alongside the Bailey, Bennink, Parker testament “The Topography of the Lungs.”
