Musician & Composer

Edition Redux returns to Europe for the third time this October, with concerts in France, Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands. Beth McDonald (tuba/electronics), Erez Dessel (piano/Nord synthesizer), Lily Finnegan (drums), and Ken Vandermark (reeds) just completed their second residency at the Hungry Brain in Chicago in September, where they developed a book of 15 new compositions from Vandermark that the band will perform during their European tour. Edition Redux will then document the material at Shenk Studio in Amsterdam for a new album to be released in 2026.
The band’s first recording, “Better A Rook Than A Pawn” was picked as “The Best Jazz on Bandcamp, January 2024” and their follow up album, “Broadcast Transformer”, received 4 starts in All About Jazz. They were featured at the Festival Internacional Jazz Madrid and Music Unlimited 38 festival in Wels, Austria during their second tour of Europe in November of 2024, and were part of the first Sound & Gravity Festival that took place in Chicago between September 10-14. After the tour and recording in Europe, the ensemble will travel to China for the first time to perform at the Oct-Loft Jazz Festival in Shenzhen on October 25th.
