Getting geared up for the solo concert at the Velvet Thursday night, will use the tenor, bass and A clarinets on an all improvised set. Curious to catch Little Women live, been hearing good things about them, and it will be good to see Fred Anderson.
Watched the Miles Davis Septet from their show at the Stadthalle…in Vienna from November 1973. Would like to adapt some of his strategies for Powerhouse Sound, want to simplify the music without reducing it, want the improvisations to have room to expand. Hoping to write much new material for the summer concerts with the group, but it needs to be direct and easy to learn so we can “get off the page” and get to group interplay and improvisation as quickly as possible.
