Have a rehearsal with Bruce Lamont’s band, Yakuza, which he’s expanded
into an Arkestra for the Wicker Park Festival this Sunday, the 1st at
6pm. The horn section (with Mars Williams on tenor and soprano, Dave
Rempis and myself on baritone) got together with the main band for a
couple of hours and went over the tunes
and put together some charts- will be a heavy music extravaganza!
Evening spent watching more music films with my folks: “Duke Ellington:
Live In ’58,” “The Universal Mind of Bill Evans: Jazz Pianist On The
Creative Process And Self-Teaching,” and “The Howlin’ Wolf Story;” all
superb. The Ellington and Howlin’ Wolf in particular have amazing
performance footage.
